Why Join a Church Choir?
Consider:

Participation in a performing Choir can be a wonderfully rewarding experience. The services of the Episcopal Church are held in deservedly high regard for the beauty of both the spoken and the musical parts of the service. This is an opportunity for you to participate. In this weekly offering of prayer and praise to our Maker and Redeemer.

In the choir at St. John's Church we get to sing a large amount of very varied music. Everything from the earliest plainsong to music composed, literally, yesterday!

The music for the weekly liturgies is chosen specifically for the choir, to be singable while presenting a challenge. The challenge, of course, is for you to
be regular and prompt for rehearsal. If you're there I'll make sure you know the music!

If you have a God-given talent for music and singing this might be a satisfying method for serving both God and your Parish.

Occasionally, (at the annual Concert and for the Christmas and Easter Liturgies), you get a chance to sing a full Mass & Anthem with a Professional
Orchestra. These are sung within the setting of the liturgy for which they were composed, so they have an authenticity that is lacking in the case of a
Secular concert. We typically perform Masses composed by Mozart, Schubert, Gounod and others.

The choir meets every Sunday at 8:00 am and we rehearse until the time for the service. This may seem to be an odd arrangement, but it ensures
that we are all properly warmed-up and familiar with the music of that day. We also rehearse for subsequent weeks and any Special Holiday
services coming up.

So, give it some consideration. One of my pleasures is in getting to know the people in the choir, and you'll enjoy knowing and working with them, tool
